There is hope!

And, yes, there is help also ... but first, if you are on Guam, you must turn your radio dial and park it at 91.9 FM.

In the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, leave your dial at 89.9 FM.

That's exactly what a listener did years ago when she was in the same predicament. "Listen" to her amazing story now.

Brief background

NellieJoy Alvarez Roberts has been a long-time listener to Joy FM. In fact, she started listening to the station way back in 1993.

The Sinajana resident grew up in a very big and loving family on Guam. Prayers and Church were regular parts of her family life.

"We were taught to pray when we woke up in the morning, before we ate and before we slept at night," said Roberts.

She and her siblings had a “blessed life” growing up and living here in the islands. Their parents, Jerry and Isabela Alvarez, tried their best to raise her and her 7 sisters along with 4 brothers as God-fearing children.

Today, she is married to Jerry Roberts. Their children are all grown now and living on their own with the exception young Josiah Roberts.

Challenge

Around the time NellieJoy Roberts found Joy FM "by accident," things were at a very "low point" in her life.

"I was scanning the dial on the radio looking for something encouraging during a very low time in my life," she explained, "I heard a song that caught my heart followed by another, then another... I was hooked from that point on."

NellieJoy Roberts had just gone through a divorce. And the weight, thankfully (in retrospect) not only brought her down, but literally drove her to begin reading the Bible.

Her inspired dial-surfing allowed Joy FM—affectionately, known today as JOY—to ring-in with melodious and uplifting songs on the air… speaking directly to her heart, confirming wonderful promises God had told her in her earlier Bible readings.

“They were providential,” she said about the songs that arrested her heart.

Those songs, NellieJoy Roberts explained, were divinely pre-selected from God Himself to go out on air on that radio station exactly at the time she was "scanning the dial" years ago.

"The rest," she continued, "became a part of my Christian history. And, my life has never been the same."

Solution

So true! NellieJoy Roberts has never been the same since that fateful day. That Christian radio station was her ultimate solution.

Still is!

Today, her radio dial is stuck where it landed 23 years ago... on JOY. She has never moved her dial to another station since, nor has she the desire to do so.

JOY saved her and set her life straight decades ago. It continues to answer her every need, spiritually, even to this very minute as you read her story.

Results and benefits

Roberts has actually gone on to become part of the very radio ministry that helped her in a time of need.

As a volunteer show-host at JOY since July 2001, Roberts has helped countless listeners accept the Lord Jesus Christ.

"NellieJoy... she seems to just know the right words that speak to my heart at exactly the right time," a JOY listener from Guam testified, softly sobbing.

Such listener is one of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of listeners to Roberts' prime time 'Joy in the Journey' radio show from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Many of her listeners are convinced the Holy Spirit is using NellieJoy Roberts to reach them personally.

Her humble story is incredible! It's a powerful testament of God's work through radio ministry in Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands.

When asked she replied: "Joy FM has influenced my walk with the Lord in the most positive way, teaching me to search and study more about Jesus and His will for my life through His Word, the Bible.

"The sermons and music I hear encourages me to trust Him and His Word more, and believe that He is always with me no matter what.

"He is right here alongside me walking through this journey of life. He continues to speak to me through the Scriptures being aired, sermons and the beautiful music prayerfully selected to minister to hearts for Jesus."

It was through JOY that NellieJoy Roberts began to finally understand the importance of studying the Scripture for herself, not relying wholly on customs and traditions... which, she said, are the teachings of man embraced by the majority of the Christian world.

May God be praised!
